Antonín Kalina Exhibition

On February 17, 2017, an exhibition dedicated to Antonín Kalina at Ladislav Novák Gallery in the Jewish quarter of Třebíč was opened to mark the 115th anniversary of his birth.

Permanent exhibition of the Třebíč citizen and savior of Jewish children was ceremonially opened on 17 February 2017 on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of Kalina´s birth. Eight exhibition panels with text documents and photographs capture the life of Antonín Kalina, especially the key war events. The exhibition also explains why it took so long for the world to discover Kalina´s heroic deeds. Unlike world-renowned saviors such as Oskar Schindler and Nicholas Winton, Antonín Kalina was organizing the rescue of children in situation when his life was in danger. He was a political prisoner in the concentration camp and in the Gestapo accompanying documents it was written: "Return unwanted." Source: Report on Vysočina Region website, click here»»
